Hey there!

Continuing on with my Christmas cards, I have another simple and cute card to share featuring Penny Black.

SUPPLIES Stamps: Wintertime Cheer (30-386); Season’s Gifts (30-316); Holiday Snippets (30-307) Dies: Winter Cheer (51-255); Hello Frame (51-040) Color: Inktense Watercolor Pencils (Derwent); Chipped Sapphire; Faded Jeans, Blueprint Sketch Distress Ink (Ranger); Brilliance Moonlight White (Tsukineko); Black Hybrid Ink) Other: Bristol Paper (Strathmore), Clear Sparkle Pen (Spectrum Noir); Glossy Accents (Ranger)

I love all the Christmas critters especially the ones that Margaret Sherry creates for Penny Black.  This little dog is no exception.

The image from Wintertime Cheer (30-386) was colored with watercolor pencils and then fussy cut.  The blue background that is behind the white card panel was colored with dark blue Distress Inks.  I stamped several snowflakes from the sets Holiday Snippets (30-307) and Season’s Gifts (30-316) on the blue background white ink.  I cut a frame using the Hello Frame (51-040) on the card panel.  I die cut Joy from the Winter Cheer set (51-255) several times to create my sentiment.  Clear sparkle was added as well as Glossy Accents to the die cut.

To assemble the card, I adhered my blue background behind the frame.  The dog image was adhered to the bottom of the frame on the card panel with dimensional tape.  I added my die cut sentiment and finally adhered the panel to my card base.

Enjoy the rest of the week!

Christmas in July

Hello there!

It’s time to get the Christmas stamps out and create some holiday cards.

Here’s my first card for the year using one of my favorite Penny Black poinsettia stamps – an oldie but goody…

SUPPLIES Stamps: Christmas Pride (40-075); Yuletide Wishes (30-382) Color: Gansai Tambi Watercolor Set (Kuretake); Inktense Color Pencils (Derwent); Black Onyx Versafine (Tsukineko); Black Hybrid Ink; Antique Linen, Tea Dye Distress Ink (Ranger) Other: Clear Embossing Powder (Ranger); Clear Gems; Bristol Paper (Strathmore)

I stamped Christmas Pride (40-075) on a Bristol paper panel.  I first colored the inside of the petals with the Inktense Pencils.  I then used the Gansai Tambi watercolor set to finish coloring the image.  Using a ink blending tool, I added Antique Linen and Tea Dye Distress Ink around the perimeter of the card panel.  The sentiment from Yuletide Wishes (30-382) was heat embossed using clear EP.  The panel was mounted on my card base and I added clear gems to finish off the card.  Pretty simple.

Have you checked out the Penny Black Simplicity Sister blog anytime this month?  Here is a sneak peek of my card posted a few weeks back…

Check it out here.

Until next time!

Peace on Earth

Happy New Year!

I thought it would be appropriate to start the year with a card that evokes the beauty of winter and a peaceful evening.  This is my favorite Christmas card I made in 2016 because of it’s simplicity and, in my opinion, quiet beauty.

On Bristol paper, I stamped the lovely Snowy Home designed by Stacy Yacula for Purple Onion Designs.  I colored the image with watercolor markers (Kuretake Zig Clean Color).  Once colored I added a mask and created the evening sky with dark purples and dark blue Distress Inks.  The sentiment is from an old Ali Edwards Technique Tuesday Christmas set was stamped with Versafine Black Onyx ink and embossed with clear powder.

I hope the year begins well and is filled with happiness and more creative time!

Warmest Wishes

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday.  I’m still on vacation mode and enjoying the relative quiet.  I have 2 cards to share today as I try to catch up with my posts.

SUPPLIES Stamps: Gleeful (30-266); Holiday Snippets (30-307)

SUPPLIES Stamps: Gleeful (30-266); Holiday Snippets (30-307) Dies:  Basic Stitch Lines (MFT) Color:  Black Licorice Hybrid (MFT); Zig Clean Color Watercolor Brushes (Kuretake); Inktense Watercolor Pencils (Derwent); Black Onyx Versafine (Tsukineko) Other:  Watercolor Paper (Strathmore)

I made a simple card using Penny Black products.  The images are from the clear set Gleeful (30-266).  I stamped with black ink and watercolored the image as well as create a blue background.  The sentiment at the bottom of the card is from Holiday Snippets (30-307).

I’m a little late to share my second card which was highlighted on the Simplicity Sister blog.  Here’s a sneak peek:

Here is the link to see the card as well as details of how I created it.

Love, Joe & Peace

Happy December!

I’m slowly (very slowly) checking off my Christmas to-do list.  Here is another Christmas card to share.

SUPPLIES Stamps: Bells & Boughs (PTI); Silver Bells (WPlus9); Woodland Wreaths (WPlus9); Believe (Penny Black: 30-310) Dies: Bells & Boughs (PTI) Color: Various Green Inks (Hero Arts); Versafine Black Onyx (Tsukineko); Clean Color Watercolor Markers (Kuretake) Other: Clear EP (Ranger); Queens Gold EP (Ranger)

I used a variety of stamps to create my leaf border.  They were stamps with various hues of dye ink.  I added a few red berries to add a change of color.  The bells and ribbon were stamped and embossed with gold powder.  I colored them with watercolor makers.  The sentiment is from Penny Black.

Until next time!

Toasty Greetings

Hi There!

I hope you are enjoying your weekend.  The temperature has finally fallen and we enjoying brisk weather in our parts.

I have a Christmas card to share….

SUPPLIES: Stamps: Toasty Greetings (MFT). Dies: Stitched Slopes & Hills (SSS) Color: Clean Color Real Brush Markers (Zig Kuretake); Distress Ink (Ranger), Versafine Black Onyx (Tsukineko) Other: Clear Embossing Powder (Ranger); White Embossing Powder (Ranger), Clear Sequins

I’ve been wanting to play with MFT’s Birdie Brown designs.  I decided to use the snowman set, Toasty Greetings, to create my card.   The snowman, penguin and fire images were stamped and heat embossed and then colored with watercolor markers.  I created the background by using various colors of dark blue and purple distress ink by simply pouncing on my panel using a small sponge ink dabber.  Once I completed the background, I die cut my snowy hill using SSS Stitched Slopes & Hills.  I placed my colored images on the panel and added a sentiment with white embossing powder.

I have a few more to share in the weeks to come.  And the cards that I’ve been showcasing so far are going towards the Caring Hearts Drive.  It’s not too late to contribute.  For details, click here.

Take care!

Joy, Love & Laughter

Today I’m sharing a Christmas card using 2 of my favorite Penny Black Christmas stamps.

SUPPLIES Stamps: White Christmas (40-255); A Cool Christmas (30-128); Season’s Gifts (30-316) Color: Clean Color Watercolor Brush Markers (Zig Kuretake); Versafine Black Onyx Ink (Tsukineko) Other: Clear Embossing Powder (Ranger); Bristol Paper (Strathmore)

These two stamp sets make me smile.  To start, I stamped and embossed the snowman landscape image from White Christmas (40-255) on Bristol Paper with Versafine Black Onyx Ink and clear EP.  The scene was colored with watercolor markers.  I then stamped and colored the happy eskimo and his friend sledding from A Cool Christmas (30-128) in the same manner.  I fussy cut the eskimo image and roughly cut the landscape image leaving a small white border around the image.

I stamped & embossed the landscape image again on a Bristol paper card panel toward the top and centered.  I carefully cut out the landscape image leaving the border creating a window.  I then stamped and embossed the sentiment from Season’s Gifts (30-316) to the bottom right of the window.  Using dimensional foam tape I added my watercolored landscape image to the back of the panel.  The panel was then added to a top folding card base.  Lastly, I added the little eskimo image onto the panel.

This cute eskimo can cheer anyone up.

Until next time.

Merry Christmas

It’s not often that I have a chunk of time to create cards.  My kids are in school and my time is usually devoted to volunteer work.  But for some reason, I had a bit of time and decided to make a few Christmas cards.  So, the next few posts I’ll be sharing what I made.

Here’s a simple card using the same set I used on the Simplicity Sisters blog.

SUPPLIES Stamps: Twinkle and Wish (30-313); Let It Snow (30-086) Color: Black Onyx Versafine (Tsukineko); Zig Clean Color Watercolor Markers (Kuretake); Chipped Sapphire, Faded Jeans, Blueprint Sketch, Seedless Preserves Distress Ink (Ranger) Other: Bristol Paper (Strathmore); Clear Embossing Powder (Ranger); Glossy Accents (Ranger); Star Sequins

This cute Mimi image was watercolored using Clean Color Watercolor Markers.  I fussy cut the image and set it aside.  On the card base I colored the night sky using various blue Distress Inks. I splattered water and added star sequins.  To finish, I added the Mimi image with dimensional foam.  Lastly, I added glossy accents to Mimi’s nose.
