Loving Embrace

Hi!

I’m finally sharing this card I made months ago.  It was hidden with the Christmas cards that I’ve been making these past few weeks.

SUPPLIES Stamps: Sunny BLOOMS [lg] (Purple Onion Designs) Dies: Postage Stame Elle-ements (Avery Elle) Color: Black Licorice Hybrid Ink (MFT); Versafine Black Onyx (Tsukineko); Inktense Colored Pencils (Derwent) Other: Clear Embossing Powder; Bristol Paper (Strathmore)

This was a simple card to make.  I stamped my flower image – Sunny BLOOMS from Purple Onion Design with black hybrid ink.  I colored this pretty image with watercolor pencils.  The sentiment (which I, unfortunately, don’t remember what set it came from) was stamped with Versafine Black Onyx and then heat embossed.

From white cardstock I die cut the larger frame from the die set  Postage Stamp Elle-ments.  I adhered my card panel to the back of the frame.  The completed panel was attached to my card base with foam tape.

Hope you all are enjoying your weekend.

Happy New Year!

I thought it would be appropriate to start the year with a card that evokes the beauty of winter and a peaceful evening.  This is my favorite Christmas card I made in 2016 because of it’s simplicity and, in my opinion, quiet beauty.

On Bristol paper, I stamped the lovely Snowy Home designed by Stacy Yacula for Purple Onion Designs.  I colored the image with watercolor markers (Kuretake Zig Clean Color).  Once colored I added a mask and created the evening sky with dark purples and dark blue Distress Inks.  The sentiment is from an old Ali Edwards Technique Tuesday Christmas set was stamped with Versafine Black Onyx ink and embossed with clear powder.

I hope the year begins well and is filled with happiness and more creative time!

WooHooo!

The festivities are still going on for my daughter’s birthday.  Today is the cheesecake and more presents.  Since she didn’t get to have cheesecake yesterday, my daughter insisted on just opening one present (the smallest).  Today is the rest.

Here is my second card.

I couldn’t help but use another of Stacey Yacula’s little owls from Purple Onion Designs.  This is Snowy and I colored this little guy with Prismacolor Pencils.  The image was fussy cut and set aside.

I wanted the owl to have some sort of forest background.  I decided to use one of my first background cling stamps I ever purchased – the Trees Background – from Cornish Heritage Farms.  I thought I’d do a watercolor effect using Distress Markers.  I first colored the tree trucks with 2 shades of brown.  Then I proceeded to color the leaves with 2 shades of green.  I lightly sprayed the stamp with water and gently stamped my white cardstock.  I let the image dry.

On a separate card panel, I cut a small oval in the center.  Using white scrap CS, I created a oval frame using 2 different size oval dies.  I stamped a woodgrain background stamp on the frame and then lined it up and adhered it to my card panel.  I then cut the portion of my forest background that I wanted to use on my card.  I taped that portion on the back of my card panel.  I then added the sentiment.  The “Woohooo” was stamped and then heat embossed and then I added a simple birthday sentiment under that.  I then adhered the panel to my card base and then added the little owl to the oval frame.

Have a great weekend!

Happy Birthday!

It’s a happy day!

It’s my daughter’s 12th birthday today.  The day is filled with brownies, well wishes, balloons, presents (of course) and a cheesecake (for tomorrow).

She loves owls and her presents are all wrapped with an owl team.  To keep to the theme, I made a card (or two) for her.  I am sharing my first card today.

I purchased a few Purple Onion Designs unmounted stamps back in December.  I’m so very fond of the ones designed by Stacey Yacula.  The little owl, in particular, is just too cute!  I stamped this image with black ink and then colored him with Prismacolor pencils.  I fussy cut the image and then aside.

On a scrap piece of white CS, I added several shades of yellow CS in equal widths to it for a variegated effect.  I trimmed the paper to create the square.  On another scrap piece of white CS, I stamped a woodgrain background with brown ink and then colored the entire piece with Distress Ink.  I then die cut Memory Box’s Woodland Branch through my Big Shot.  I returned to square and partiall die-cut Woodland Branch.  I then glued the stamped version of my branch die into the negative space of the square.  I added the owl on top of the branch with dimensional foam.  I then added a greeting from the new clear Penny Black set, Special Wishes (30-229).

I think she’s going to love it!  I do!  I have another card I made that I will share tomorrow.

Back to finishing the cheesecake.

And, don’t forget to check out the Penny Black site.  The products from the new release “Happy Everything” are now available for purchase.  You can find them HERE.  I’ve got a few cards to share as well in the upcoming weeks.
